      STUDIO: The Tapestry Project

Join us in the Art Studio to be part of The Tapestry Project, a collaborative effort led by artist Kirsten Ervin. Together we’ll explore her artist process through drawing and textile work, and learn how the artist herself discovers new ideas! This month we’re beginning the search for ideas by drawing into art left behind by museum guests.

Kirsten Ervin is a Pittsburgh based modern day folk artist, focused on building community and promoting joy through drawing, painting, and fiber art. Kirsten is currently an Art and Social Practice Resident at Carrick Library. She was a Futuremakers Fellow at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, has created work for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Three Rivers Arts Festival, performed puppetry at the Carnegie Museum of Art, and exhibited in galleries throughout Pittsburgh. An arts educator, Kirsten specializes in creating accessible art making opportunities for artists of all ages and abilities.  In 2013, Kirsten co-founded Creative Citizen Studios, an organization creating professional opportunities for artists with disabilities, and providing accessibility training for teaching artists and cultural institutions. She is a member of the Fiber Arts Guild of Pittsburgh, The Puppetry Guild of Pittsburgh and Group A

This residency is supported by the Fine Foundation. Thank you!
